Germany honours Bangladeshi football fan

German Charge d’ Affaires Dr Ferdinand von Weyhe has honoured Bangladeshi football fan farmer Amzad Hossain who created 3.5km long German flag.

Amzad Hossain was given a reception by the German envoy at Magura Ashaduzzman stadium on Saturday.

In the reception ceremony, the German envoy awarded Amzad a certificate signed by the Germany chancellor appreciating Amzad for his outstanding success of making 3.5km flag.

He was also gifted one Fifa worldcup official match ball (Brazuca) made by German company Adidas and one jersey of the German football team.

Amzad was also given lifetime membership of Germany football team fan club.

“I am overjoyed with the love of Magura people for German football team. Amzad's love for German football team is unfathomable and unprecedented," said the German envoy.

Amzad Hossain said: “I have made the flag at the cost of Tk2.5 lakh. I have managed the money by selling my own land. Such reception by German ambassador is a great achievement for Magura people."
