Magura arson death toll rises to 3

The death toll from the Magura truck arson has raised to three as another victim succumbed to his injuries till Sunday afternoon. 

Matin Biswas who received 57% burns died at 4:35 at the burn and plastic surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Dr Partha Shankar Pal, residential surgeon of the DMCH burn unit, confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.

Another victim Shakil Miah, 35, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital around 12 noon on the day, he said.

“Shakil was admitted to the hospital with 65% burns.”

Earlier, Roushan died early Sunday while being shifted to DMCH from Magura Sadar Hospital.

Roushan, 35, son of Abdush Salam, hailed from Malikgram village under Magura sadar upazilla.

Six other victims were undergoing treatment at the burn unit of the hospital, Shankar Pal added.

Nine people sustained burn injuries as unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bomb at a truck on Magura-Jessore highway in Moghirdhal area under Magura sadar upazila on Saturday evening.

All the victims hailed from Malik village of Magura sadar upazila.
