Another Magura arson victim dies

With him the death toll in the arson has risen to four

A person, who received severe burns in Magura truck arson, has succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday morning.

Yadul Hossain, 30, who received 90% burns, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the DMCH around 9:40am.

Dr Partha Shankar Pal, residential surgeon of the DMCH burn unit, confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.

With him the death toll in the arson rose to four.

Five other victims were undergoing treatment at the burn unit of the hospital, Shankar Pal added.

Nine people received burns as unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bomb at a truck on Magura-Jessore Highway in Moghirdhal area under the Sadar upazila on March 21.

Of the injured, Roushan, 35, died early Sunday while being shifted to the DMCH from Magura Sadar Hospital, Shakil Miah, 35, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital around 12 noon on the day while Matin Biswas died at 4:35pm at the burn and plastic surgery unit.

So far, more than 125 people have died and scores have been injured in different parts of the country in violence during the BNP-led alliance enforced non-stop blockade.

Of those, a large number of arson attacks are being conducted on highways. Hundreds of vehicles, including those belonging to law-enforcers, were burnt and attacked, leaving some 75 people dead.
