SC asks Atikullah Masud to surrender

Update : 28 Mar 2016, 02:01 PM
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has asked Globe Janakantha Shilpa Paribar Chairman Atikullah Khan Masud to surrender before the judge court within a week in a case filed over building design fraud. A four-member bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order after hearing an appeal by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday, ACC counsel Khorshed Alam told the Dhaka Tribune. ACC filed the case against Masud, also editor of daily Janakantha, on August 9, 2007 for illegally getting approval of a building design from Rajuk.. In 2008, a special court sentenced him to seven years' rigorous imprisonment. The High Court acquitted him of the fraud charge on May 23, 2010. Later, ACC filed a petition seeking permission for leave to appeal. The apex court on Monday granted the petition of ACC. - See more at: http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/2016/mar/28/sc-asks-atikullah-masud-surrender#sthash.LXiUv5Nz.dpuf
