Rajib clinches Rapid Rating Chess

Grandmaster Enamul Hossain Rajib emerged as the champion of the Walton Home Appliance Victory Day International Rapid Rating Chess having earned eight points from nine games at the hall room of Bangladesh Chess Federation yesterday.

His teammate at Bangladesh Navy, GM Abdullah al Rakib, also finished with eight points, however, after the tie-breaking game he was adjudged the runner-up.

International Master Abu Sufian Shakil finished third, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar came out fourth, Fide Master Khandokar Aminul Islam finished fifth, FM Mehedi Hasan Parag became sixth and Anisuzzaman Jewel was seventh.

Walton additional director FM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn distributed the prizes as the chief guest. Acting general secretary of the chess federation, Morsailin Ahmed, vice president Jahangir Islam and other officials were also present on the occasion.
