School, college authorities need DC's consent for excursion outside district

Authorities in schools and colleges across the country from now on will not be allowed to organise excursions or picnic outside their respective districts without the consent of deputy commissioner or education officer.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid made the announcements while visiting a number of Chougachha Ramkrishnapur Secondary School students at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, who sustained severe injuries in a bus accident in Jessore’s Chowgacha on January 25.  

Four people were also killed in the accident.

The bus was carrying teachers and students of the school who were on their way to an excursion in Dinajpur’s Swapnapuri.

Nahid said: “Authorities (school and college) have to inform the district’s deputy commissioner or the education officer before the due date in cases they want to organise a picnic (and excusrison) outside their own district.”

Strong actions will be taken against those who defy this order, the minister warned.
