The Bangladesh Hockey Federation yesterday fined Premier Division Hockey League champions Mariner Young’s Club Tk five lakhs for their act of vandalism during the title-deciding match against Usha Krira Chakra on July 1 this year.

After trailing by two goals, Mariner came from behind to beat Usha 3-2 to claim their maiden premier league title but when they were 0-2 behind, some of their officials and fans allegedly vandalised the VIP box of the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.

An executive committee meeting of the BHF was held at Falcon Hall in the capital where the committee also decided to impose a one-year stadium ban on Mariner general secretary Hasanullah Khan Rana.

Meanwhile, ATN Bangla chairman Mahfuzur Rahman was named in the executive committee as senior vice-president while Shafiullah al Munir became the vice-president.
