Banani Road-11 has been mapped using Google’s famous map maker software whereby all businesses on the road are now visible in Google Maps. Google Business Group Dhaka mapped the road by organising a Google Map Up event on September 7.

Teams of 2 people canvased the Banani neighborhood and collected business listing information. Expert mapmakers from the Mapping Bangladesh community later added all these info via the Google map maker into Google Maps.

The event was part of a global Map Up campaign which is to be launched by Google through its various GBG chapters all over the world. Dhaka was chosen as a pilot. A video based on the pilot in Dhaka will be produced to show all over the world before launching the campaign in other parts of the world.

Expressing his willingness to hold more events like this in Bangladesh, Kazi Monirul Kabir said: “This type of brilliant events will uphold the image of Bangladeshi businesses to the world.”

The event was hosted by Magnito Digital in its Banani office. Google Bangladesh  Country Consultant Kazi Monirul Kabir, Google South East Asia Head of Outreach Aileen Apolo, and Google South East Asia Communities Outreach Programme Manager Md Hadi Shafie Othman attended at the event.
