The man was on a phone call while walking on tracks when a train engine ran him over
A man who was walking on rail tracks while speaking on his phone lost both his legs when a train's engine ran over him in Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station on Tuesday.
The injured is Mosharraf Hossain Khan, an employee of a shoe store in Dhaka's Elephant road. He hails from Raipura upazila of Narsingdi.
On Tuesday morning, Dhaka Railway station police rescued the man after the incident and took him to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (Nitor). Later, he was moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Dhaka Railway police (Kamalapur) OC Mazhar-ul-Haque confirmed the matter and said that Mosharraf was walking on railway tracks adjacent to platform 8 when a locomotive ran him over.
Quoting locals, he said, the man was run over and lost both of his legs while the train engine was being repositioned. Despite blowing horn, the man did not hear the sound, likely because he was on a phone call.
The accident took place due to sheer carelessness, said the OC.
He is currently receiving treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), police added.
