Bangladeshi citizen arrested at border with foreign currency

The Border Security Force (BSF) arrested a Bangladeshi citizen near Petrapole border in North 24 Parganas district and seized foreign currency from her possession, BSF sources said on Monday. BSF received information regarding the smuggling of foreign currency on the Petrapole border outpost area, as reported by FirstPost. On Sunday evening, the operation party observed the suspicious movements of a woman near the international outpost. Hasina Alam, a resident of Bangladesh was immediately detained. $30,000, TK1.75 lakh and $6200 worth of medicine that was concealed inside a bag and her undergarments were seized from Hasina. She was handed over to the local police, along with the medicine and smuggled currency. During 2017, the south Bengal frontier of BSF has seized approximately $607,000 in foreign currency, from varying nations, and apprehended two smugglers.
