
Eulji University and Eulji University Hospital of South Korea is going to work on a three-year project to set up a specialised hospital under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), said Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Mustafizur Rahman.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase approved the project proposal placed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday in a committee meeting chaired by Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Mustafiz told reporters after the meeting.
According to the proposal, the South Korean consortium will provide consultation over the design of two 11-storey buildings, supervise the construction work, conduct selection and inspection of medical equipment and provide training to the doctors and officials of the hospital.
South Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund, managed by Korea Exim Bank, will provide Tk1,047.34 crore for implementation of the project, the cost of which is estimated at Tk1,366.33 crore. The rest of the amount will be paid by the government.
The Korean consortium will be paid Tk108 crore as consultancy fees, according to the proposal.
