The cabinet has approved the amendment proposal of a treaty signed between India and Bangladesh relating to extradition.
The decision was taken at a regular cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam told reporters that the proposal seeks to amended section 10 (3) of the treaty.
He said: “Both the countries will be allowed to extradite anyone a trial court issues an arrest warrant against.”
Earlier, the treaty only allowed extradition of a person after verifying the evidence found against him or her.
The treaty was signed on October 23, 2013.
