The incident took place around 5:30pm (BD time) on Wednesday. The four Bangladeshi victims are from different villagers of Naldanga upazila in Natore district.


The deceased are Samiul Islam alias Saddam, 30, son of Syed Ali of Khajura Sreepurpara village; Jamal Hossain Molla, 45, son of Gafur Mollah, from Khajura Janardanbati village; Asim, 27, son of Ajer Ali of Janardanbati village; and Amirul Islam, son of Sekandar Ali of Bhatopara village.
A pall of gloom descended on the families when they were informed of the deaths around 10:30pm.
Quoting the families, Khajura UP Chairman Khalilur Rahman said the fire ensued from an electric short circuit in an air cooler at the factory claiming the lives of the four instantly.
On February 23, 2015, four Bangladeshis died as fire engulfs a sofa-making factory in Dammam. Before that, on May 12, 2014, nine Bangladeshis were killed in a fire that broke out in Titas Furniture factory in Riyadh.
