Update : 14 Aug 2016, 08:12 PM

Sources at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said revenue earning from the 11 cattle corridors in the region had increased remarkably during the last seven months this year as discipline had been maintained in revenue sector during the period, said BGB Rajshahi Sector Commander Colonel Matiur Rahman while exchanging views with journalists on Sunday.

He also said last year, over Tk6.70 lakh was earned as revenue because of Indian restrictions on cattle export to Bangladesh.

In 2015, over Tk6.70 lakh had earned from the export of 90,087 cows, 47,809 buffaloes and camels while Tk22.76 crore had earned this year so far from export of 404,883 cows, 50,226 buffaloes and 10 goats.

The BGB commander also said preventive measures would be taken to bring cross-border drug, cattle smuggling and woman and child trafficking to zero level.

He also sought cooperation of people in frontiers in preventing border crimes urging them to provide specific information about the drugs-smugglers.
