The spokesperson of the 14-party alliance and Awami League presidium member said: “The trial of Bangabandhu and his family's murder along with the prolonged trial of the war criminals were held due to the firmness of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The trial of the August 21 grenade attack would surely be completed soon,” reports BSS. “People of the country didn't forget the misuse of power conducted from 'Hawa Bhaban' during BNP tenure, they (BNP leaders) orchestrated the grenade attack of August 21,” he also said. Nasim added: “BNP enacted the infamous Indemnity Ordinance to stop the trial of Bangabandhu murders.” He made the allegation during a press conference at the political office of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina after a meeting of the 14-party alliance. The meeting was convened to take stock of the latest political situation of the country and the alliance's flood-relief distribution drive. Workers' Party president Rashed Khan Menon presided over the meeting. The 14-party spokesman also announced the action programme for the month of September for creating mass awareness against terrorism and militancy. They will organise public rallies at Manikganj on September 1, at Gaibandha on September 23, at Joipurhat on September 24 and at Naogaon on September 25. Speaking at the meeting, Menon said: “The recent militant attacks and the August 21 grenade attack were inter-woven. The emergence of ultra-fanatic forces, that was experienced after assumption of power by BNP-Jamaat in 2001 were responsible for these attacks. People irrespective of party affiliation and outside the 14-party alliance should unite against terrorism and militancy.”
