Muhith: Govt to ensure security of Japanese workers

Update : 21 Aug 2016, 02:09 PM
The government will ensure security of the people working at the sites of the projects of Japanese aid, Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said. He made the statement while talking to the journalists after a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Masato Watanabe on Sunday morning. Muhith said: “I will arrange a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal regarding the matter. “ First Secretary Tarantino Kawakami was also present at the meeting. Japan has been seeking permission from the Bangladesh government to strengthen security arrangements and allow private security guards, equipped with necessary arms, to protect the offices and factories of private Japanese companies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operating in Bangladesh. This request came in light of growing security concerns after 20 people, including seven Japanese nationals, were killed during the terrorist attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka on July 1.
