“There is no democracy in the country. The autocratic government has snatched away people's fundamental rights. They want to eliminate BNP from the country after resorting repression on the party leaders and activists.” BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia placed floral wreath at the party founder Ziaur Rahman's grave to mark the party's 38th founding anniversary. Khaleda along with thousands of party leaders and activists paid respect to the grave. Fakhrul added: “BNP is a party based on people's support and that is why BNP will not be eliminated from the country. Whenever BNP is in crisis it turns back and this time also the party will turn back under the leadership of Khaleda Zia. We have vowed today that we will be able to restore democracy in the country.” The party has chalked out various programmes to mark the day and as part of that a discussion will be held at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh today where Khaleda is expected to be present as chief guest. To mark the day, the national flag and the party flag were hoisted in the party offices across the country.
