Dr Moinul Khan, director general of the CIID, at a press conference said a CIID team seized a Mitsubishi (2972cc) jeep from Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar on September 2 while another Nissan 300ZX jeep from Paton village of the same district on September 5.
In another drive, the team seized a Jaguar S-type car from Londoni road area of Sylhet city on September 22, he said. The vehicle owners, however, could not be arrested during the drives, he said.
He said the vehicles were seized on charge of violating Carnet de Passage facility, an international customs facility that allows tourists to temporarily import their private vehicles without paying any duty for a limited period on condition of exporting them at the end of their stay.
He also said the owners would be able to take the vehicles back by repaying duty.
If they fail to do so, legal actions will be taken against them, he added.
