The government would publish the gazette of zila parishad (district council) election after delimitation and the Election Commission (EC) will undertake next necessary measures to this effect, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq thas said.
The minister was replying to a starred question of treasury bench member AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen in the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday, reports BSS.
The process of empowering the EC to hold the election is underway as per the Zila Parishad Act 2000, he told the House.
He added that there are 1,281 posts for election at 61 zila parishads.
