A total of 17 students were rescued with the help of locals. Two female students remained missing till filing of this report around 7:30pm.
A team of Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone) was still conducting an operation in search of the missing students.
Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Chittagong Fire Service said that they were on their way to the site with an ambulance and two rescue vehicles.
Goutam Baroi, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Anwara told the Dhaka Tribune that they were still conducting the search operation with the help Coast Guard members.
“The boat capsized at around 9:30am in Shangkha River at Juidandi area under Banshkhali upaziula of Chittagong. We could rescue 17 students. However, two females still remain traceless,” said the UNO.
