The two premiers expressed their steadfast stand to stay beside each other in the coming days during a bilateral meeting after BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit in Goa on Sunday night, reports BSS.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque and PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the two leaders discussed the matters relating to mutual interests in a very cordial atmosphere.
"All bilateral issues came up for discussion, and we are hopeful to resolve all those issues with India," the foreign secretary said.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to visit New Delhi at the end of the year, and the foreign ministry officials are taking preparation for the visit.
Shahidul said the two prime ministers discussed the ways of combating militancy and terrorism and Narendra Modi highly appreciated Sheikh Hasina for her determining role against terrorism.
"The two leaders discussed how effectively terrorism could be addressed and Bangladesh Prime Minister shared Bangladesh's experience in dealing with terrorism," he said.
Sheikh Hasina shared with Narendra Modi the multi-prone initiatives taken by her government to combat terrorism where families, educational institutions, religious leaders as well as the cross section of people were involved, he said.
The two prime ministers agreed to address social impacts of terrorism and militancy comprehensively side by side with enforcement of law against the menaces, the foreign secretary said.
Replying to a question, Shahidul said though the Teesta issue didn't came in the discussion, but Bangladesh is very much optimistic about resolving the issue.
