
Supreme Court's Appellate Division's five-member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Sunday hearing a government petition that was lodged in the first week of this month seeking the stay.
After holding a hearing of the petition, a chamber judge of the Appellate Division on October 9 forwarded the petition for hearing to the regular bench.
The Appellate Division on Sunday extended the time after the state counsels told the court that they could not file a regular appeal as they had not received the certified copy of the verdict.
