A Dinajpur court on Thursday placed the main accused in the five-year-old girl's rape case on a seven-day remand. With the remand, he was put on remand for the second time.
The court also issued arrest warrant for another accused of the case Afzal Hossain Kobiraj.
Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate Krishna Komol Roy passed the order after Saiful Islam was produced before the court by Investigation Officer of the case Sub-Inspector Swapan Chowdhury in the afternoon.
On October 17, the minor girl went missing while she was playing. When her family members were desperately searching for her, Saiful told them that the girl was taken by a spirit.
To prove his point, he called upon Afzal Hossain, a village quack, who claimed that she would be found the following morning. Later, the girl was found in a critical state at a field in the next morning.
This made the family suspicious and the girl’s father filed a complaint with Parbotipur police station that evening. They were later confirmed that Saiful was the rapist.
On October 24, police arrested Saiful from Eidgah Slum area of the district. On October 27, he was placed on a seven-day remand.
