Security beefed up at Dhaka airport

Update : 07 Nov 2016, 07:00 PM
“Passengers are using the departure gate on the second floor and we are not letting anyone enter the airport to see off people," Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Additional Superintendent of Police Tanjina Akhter told the Dhaka Tribune on Monday morning. "Our people have been kept on standby and they are trying to ensure that there is no gathering in the canopy area.” In new measures effective from Monday morning, only ticketed passengers are allowed to enter the departures terminal while arrivals can only be received by one person each, CAAB sources said. The moves follow Sunday evening's knife attack, when a person in a cleaner's uniform killed Ansar member Sohagh Ali, 32, and injured three other security personnel. The attacker had identified himself as Shihab. Airport police OC Nurey Alam Mia said the process to file a case over the November 6 incident is underway. “The attacker is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. We are investigating the matter,” he said.Read More: 1 Ansar member killed, 3 injured at Dhaka airport
