
Emerging from the meeting, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told the press the government would ensure that home rent in in Ashulia in the areas where workers live would not go up.
“Also, all the issues with wages and benefits will be resolved through discussions with the owners,” he said.
The meeting began on Monday evening and continued till 11pm at the capital's Minto Road at Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan's residence.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Labour and Employment Mojibul Haque Chunnu, Savar lawmaker Dr Md Enamur Rahman, Inspector General of Police Shahidul Hoque and RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed attended the meeting.
Among the business leaders were FBCCI Senior Vice President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman.
Tofail warned that if there was any further unrest in Ashulia, actions would be taken against those responsible.
Workers leader Rafiqul Islam Sujon said all workers would be returning to work from Tuesday morning.
Garment workers in Ashulia had been on a strike for a week, forcing at least 30 factories to close down.
