One held over Marma girl gang-rape

The arrestee was – Kajol Barua, a trader in Madhompara area, in the district town. Rafique Ullah, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said: “A team of police conducted a drive in Madhompara area and arrested indigenous girl gang-raped accused Kajol. “We are still conducting drives to arrest the rest of the accused.” Earlier, a group of wrongdoers raped a 17-year-old Marma girl on Friday night. The victim, an SSC examinee, is now undergoing treatment at Bandarban Sadar Hospital. Ufochaing Marma, who was accompanying the girl and also the lover of the victim, said: “A group of four people stopped us in Shaplachattar area around 11:20pm when we were returning home from Rajpunnyah festival. Later, two of them fastened me with rope and beat up me and two others raped her.”
