Chandpur AL leader sued for walking on 'human bridge'
Ali Ahmed, father of a student at Nilkamal Osmania High School, filed the case with Haimchar police on Wednesday night dubbing the incident a “physical abuse” of the children. Haimchar Upazila Chairman Nur Hossain Patwari, also the upazila unit Awami League general secretary, walked over students who formed a “human bridge” during an award ceremony on Tuesday. The other accused in the case are Headmaster Mosharraf Hossain, and school managing committee President Humayun Patwari, and members Monsur Ahmed and MA Bashar.

Haimchar police station Officer-in-Charge Syed Mahbubur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that necessary steps would be taken after investigation. Images and footage of the incident were widely circulated on the social media, triggering a barrage of criticism. Patwari reportedly issued a public apology later. The school introduced building an emblematic human-bridge as a competition event back in 2003. The Chittagong Divisional Commissioner’s office on Wednesday formed a one-member committee to investigate the matter.
