Kurigram town comes under CCTV coverage from Monday
Police will bring Kurigram town under the surveillance of CCTV cameras ahead of Ramadan to ensure better security to the city residents. Installation of the cameras in parts of the city starts from Monday. They will be operated by 11 sub-control stations under the office of the district's superintendent of police (SP), reports Bangla Tribune. SP Md Mehedul Karim said: “We are well prepared for the project, which will help us beef up the law and order situation here.” “The move will also help us identify criminals and curb crimes,” he added. The contractor firm, Softtech, has been assigned the task of installing at least 80 CCTV cameras featuring improved night vision facility. The installation will be completed in areas including Khalil Bazar, the district's central bus terminal, the area from Khajurer Tol to College Mor, Shapla Chattar in the heart of the city and Trimohoni Mor on Kurigram-Rangpur highway by June, the firm's owner AKM Mostafa Zaman said.
