Advance rail tickets to be sold for Eid from June 12

Bangladesh Railway will begin selling advance rail tickets for passengers from June 12 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, a BSS report has said. "Advance tickets will be available in Dhaka and Chittagong stations under special arrangements from 8am. Railway officials will supervise sales," Railways Minister Md. Mazibul Hoque said at a press conference in Railbhaban on Thursday. He added that tickets for June 21 will be available on June 12 from both stations. Tickets for June 22 will be sold on June 13, for June 23 on June 14, June 24 on June 15, and June 25 on June 16. In addition, advance return tickets will be available for purchase on June 19 at 8am under special arrangement from Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat stations for Dhaka-bound passengers after Eid. Tickets for June 28 will be sold on June 19, June 29 tickets on June 20, June 30 on June 21, July 1 on June 22, and July 2 tickets will be sold on June 23. The minister said seven special trains will be in operation during Eid. A pair of trains will operate from Dhaka to Dewanganj, Rajshahi, Parbatipur and from Chittagong to Chandpur from June 23 to 25. These trains will also carry Dhaka-bound passengers after Eid from June 28 to July 3. On Eid day, two special trains will run from Bhairab Bazar to Kishoreganj and from Mymensingh to Kishoreganj, carrying passengers to Sholakia Eidgah, which witnesses the largest Eid congregation in Bangladesh. The railways minister said all intercity trains will run on weekends from June 21 to the day before Eid. A maximum of four tickets will be sold to each passenger and are non-refundable.
