
University of Dhaka (DU) will give honorary Doctorate of Law degree to Japanese diplomat Yukiya Amano.
The university took the decision at its Senate session conducted by Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Friday.
Amano will be honoured for his contribution in promoting safe, secure and peaceful nuclear technologies and prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
He is the director general of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), an intergovernmental organisation based in Vienna.
The 70-year-old was elected to the position in July 2009. Amano previously served as an international civil servant for the United Nations and its subdivisions.
