Photo ID card a must for domestic air travel

Update : 05 Jul 2017, 05:46 PM
From now on, all the passengers have to produce any of their photo identity cards at the airports before boarding a domestic flight in Bangladesh. Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab) issued a circular in this regard signed by its Chairman Ehsanul Gani Chowdhury on June 30. The circular reads that the passengers will have to produce one of their photo identity cards along with their airlines' tickets at the check-in counters of the airport. National Identity Card (NID), passport, driving license, ID cards of educational institutions or workplaces with a photograph attached would be acceptable at the counters, the circular added. Boarding card of a passenger would be issued after cross-checking the names mentioned in the ID card and the airline's ticket. As per the new rule, a passenger will not be able to board a domestic flight if the ticket was not purchased under his/her name. As the passengers of international flights already have to carry their passports, the new rule primarily applies to the domestic passengers. However, the Civil Aviation Authorities are yet to offer any alternative directions for those who do not have an ID card.
