Doctors at a London hospital are trying to wake up Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq from sedation in a normal way.
He is still in the intensive care unit, Mizanur Rahman, the mayor's personal secretary, said.
“His condition is currently stable,” Mizanur said. “Doctors hope it will improve within the next few days.”
The mayor went to London on a family tour on July 29. He was admitted to the ICU of a hospital there after he had fallen ill.
Doctors said he was suffering from cerebral vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessel wall involving the brain).

“The doctors are trying to wake him up. It is a lengthy process,” Mizanur said.
The mayor’s family friend Dr Abdun Noor Tushar on Thursday said the doctors would remove the ventilator anytime that day to wake him up naturally from sedation.
“It is a complex process and the doctors will try to bring him back to a normal state gradually. Hopefully, he will react to the medicines,” Tushar wrote in a Facebook post.
