Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq is now breathing normally after doctors at the London hospital he is in took off the ventilator, says his aide.
“He, however, is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Doctors found him a bit restless. But they have cut down on his sedatives today,” the mayor’s Assistant Personal Secretary Mizanur Rahman told the Bangla Tribune on Monday afternoon.
“Annisul Huq used to breathe only 10% via ventilator. Doctors said his condition will improve gradually. His other medicines are what they were.”
The mayor went to London on a family tour on July 29. He was admitted to the ICU of the hospital there over a week ago after he had fallen ill suddenly.
Doctors said he was suffering from cerebral vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessel wall involving the brain).
Mizanur earlier said that Annisul had been unwell for some time, but the problem was not identified when he was in Bangladesh.
The mayor had received treatment at the London hospital earlier.
