Humanitarian organisation World Vision is going to aid 65,000 Rohingya refugees by October 15.
The aid incentive will reach the refugees by providing supplementary food packages to the families at Jamtoli, Tajlimarghona, Balukhali Makeshift Settlement, Kutupalong Makeshift Settlement, and Kutupalong Camp in Cox’s Bazar.
In partnership with World Food Program (WFP), World Vision is providing supplementary food package to meet the immediate needs of 40,000 people.
During the first phase of its relief distribution on September 24, the organization has distributed complete food packages for 25,250 people, in response to the government call for assistance.
The second phase was started on October 9 and will be continued till October15.
Fred Witteveen, World Vision’s National Director in Bangladesh who recently visited the makeshifts in Cox’s Bazar said: “Hundreds of thousands of refugees have crossed into Bangladesh, and still they are coming. The suffering they have endured, especially children and women, is unimaginable. Our sole aim is to, along with partners; reduce their sufferings as best we can.”
About 519,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar since August 25, when attacks by Rohingya militants on security posts in Rakhine state sparked a ferocious military response. Over half of the new arrivals are still living in spontaneous settlements with little access to aid, including shelter, food, clean water, and sanitation.
