Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has stated that a list of drug peddlers has been prepared with input from different intelligence and law enforcement agencies, and the anti-drug campaign against these narcotics dealers will continue throughout Bangladesh.

He added that any culprits peddling or possessing banned drugs will be brought to justice.

The home minister made the comment while inaugurating the Anti-Drug Campaign of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in Farmgate on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, Asaduzzaman Khan revealed that the drives were launched after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared her firm stance against banned narcotics substances.

The home minister said: “For example, we all remember Oishee Rahman, a young girl who brutally murdered her parents under the influence of banned drugs.

“Only the families that have addicts among them can truly realize the dangerous consequences of illegal narcotics.”

Seeking support from everyone, Asaduzzaman pointed out that Dhaka, which serves as the central hub of Bangladesh, must be freed from banned drugs.

“We will make a continued effort to build a narcotics free Bangladesh. So, say no to drugs,” said Asaduzzaman.

DMP Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Chief Md Monirul Islam were present at the event among many other senior police officials.
