The 22-year-old got into an SUV in front of his Gold Coast neighborhood hotel.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Rezwanul left the hotel voluntarily and there was no evidence of foul play. Details regarding the SUV are not immediately known, other than that it is allegedly white.

According to the report, Rezwanul was supposed to meet with a group on July 20—but did notappear.

Guglielmi said group members searched for him and contacted the police hours later.

Special Olympics International stated: “We have learned an athlete from the Bangladeshi Unified Cup soccer team is missing. We are deeply concerned as our foremost priority is the well-being and safety of our athletes.”

Police said Rezwanul has autism and does not speak English. The athlete traveled to Chicago to participate in the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics, which began on July 20.

The missing person’s alert for him described the Bangladeshi athlete as wearing a blue hat with “USA” inscribed on the front, a blue polo shirt with “Bangladesh” written in red lettering on the back, black pants, and white gym shoes.

Monir Choudhury, honorary consul of Bangladesh in Illinois, said he was working with other members of the embassy, and community organizers, to give the team all the help they need to find him.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said his photo was sent to every district to get as many people to see him as possible.

Rezwanul won a gold medal in badminton in the 2015 games, in Los Angeles, as a shuttler in the men’s singles event for Bangladesh, according to the team’s website.
