Police recovered the child’s body and sent it to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for an autopsy
A father has been accused of killing his own 18-month-old son in Madhabdi, Narsingdi.
The father, Emran Mia, has been detained by the police.
The incident occurred on Sunday. Police said he allegedly committed the crime due to a family dispute.
Madhabdi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Abu Taher, confirmed the incident.
Locals said Emran Mia has been in dispute with his wife since they got married five years ago. His wife had been living with her father for the past two years. Emran often went to their house to demand money.
Locals said when Emran asked for more money on Saturday but the family refused to give it, he violently attacked his child Alif, who was killed instantly. He stabbed his mother-in-law when she tried to stop him.
Neighbours heard her cry for help and caught Emran. He was handed over to the police later.
The police recovered the body of the child and sent it to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. The injured mother-in-law was admitted to the same hospital.
