Joynal hid the gold bars in the battery cases of the charging lights, which worth Tk6.50 crore
Customs officials have held a man for possessing 130 gold bars - weighing at total 15kg - at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
The detainee, Joynal Abedin, 22, arrived in Chittagong—from Sharjah—on an Air Arabia flight at 8:10am on Friday.
The airport manager Wing Commander ABM Sarwar-E-Zaman, confirming the news, said: "The customs officials detained Joynal because of his suspicious movement, and searched his luggage."
"We seized six charging lights from his possession. Joynal hid the gold bars in the battery cases of the charging lights, worth Tk6.50 crore," he added.
Customs officials took Joynal into custody after the primary interrogation. Later, he will be handed over to Patenga police station for further investigation, said ABM Sarwar.
