Relief supplies to be sent to cyclone Bulbul affected areas

A press release was issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) 

Relief supplies, navy contingent, a medical team including two warships will be sent to cyclone Bulbul affected areas as part of rescue operations.

The cyclone affected areas include Barisal, Jhalokati, Patuakhali, Barguna, Satkhira, Chittagong, and St Martin’s, said a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) under the Ministry of Defense, on Saturday.

Banuja Karnafuli, Teesta, Padma, LCVP12, and LCVP3 have been deployed for rescue and relief operations in the coastal areas of Khulna region. There are four naval containers ready to handle any emergency situation. Also, four vessels in Chittagong, Banauja Shahjalal, Shah Paran, and Andhra have been prepared for departure with relief supplies to the coastal areas affected by the emergency situation. 

Ships deployed from Khulna Naval Zone will distribute 20 packets of emergency food items to affected areas of Barisal, Jhalokati, Patuakhali, Barguna, and Satkhira. Each packet contains 5kg of rice, 1.5kg of pulses, 1.5l soybean oil, a kg of chilli, 5kg curry, 500gm molasses, 500gm biscuits, 2l of pure water, two dozen candles, two dozen match boxes, lifeguards, essential saline, and medications. 

In addition, five specialized medical teams have been formed to provide emergency medical assistance in the affected areas. They will be engaged in the delivery of free medical care, life-saving pills, and food saline in the affected areas. 

In the meantime, two Navy warships are ready to assist the affected people on sea expeditions by supplying them with two tons of jaggery, a ton of twine, and two tons of rice. 

The Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, and local administration along with the Navy have adopted a comprehensive three-level action plan.

Cyclone Bulbul is expected to cross Khula coast around midnight on Saturday
