Bangladeshi businessman stabbed to death in Eswatini

A Bangladeshi businessman’s body has returned to Dhaka after he was stabbed to death by two other Bangladeshi nationals over a dispute in Eswatini, Africa, formerly known as Swaziland.

The deceased, M Yousuf Miah, of Faridpur district, was killed on December 15 when he was attending a meeting to mitigate some local community dispute, family members said yesterday.

The family alleged that two Bangladeshi nationals stabbed him to death.

The victim is the son of late Alhaz Shafiullah Mia of Mrigi village under Kotwali police station in Faridpur district.

Mir Abdul Motaleb, a family member of the deceased said his body was brought back home last night on an Emirates Airlines flight.

His family said that Yousuf went to Swaziland in 2001 after completing his bachelors of arts and he started a business there in 2003.

Yousuf left behind a wife, a 10-year-old daughter and a five-month-old son. All of them returned to Bangladesh on December 23.

The family of the deceased urged the Bangladesh government to take steps necessary to ensure justice for his death.
