The International Humanitarian Service Award 2019 was handed over to the Bangladeshi organization in Washington on Wednesday
The American Red Cross has awarded Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) for its outstanding contribution to humanitarian services in the country.
The International Humanitarian Service Award 2019 was handed over to Bangladeshi organization in Washington on Wednesday, a BDRCS press release said on Thursday.
Prof Dr Md Habibe Millat, BDRCS vice chairman, received the award during the annual humanitarian award giving ceremony. Md Feroz Salah Uddin, secretary general, and Md Belal Hossain, director of Disaster Risk Management Department, also accompanied the vice chairman.
"Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has already been recognized for its humanitarian contribution and this award is another milestone for the organization. We are honoured to receive this prestigious award from the American Red Cross. We are grateful to our volunteer and staff who are always supporting people in need in Bangladesh," said Dr Millat, also a ruling Awami League lawmaker.
He also said the recognition will inspire the volunteers and staff of the BDRCS.
