Jamuna Group to start mass production of hand sanitizers

In order to keep ourselves disinfected amid the rapid spread of Covid-19, the demand for hand sanitizers is increasing every day and the ever increasing gap between supply and demand of hand sanitizers has caused chaos among the people of the country.

To tackle this issue, Jamuna Distillery Ltd, a concern of Jamuna Group, has taken the initiative to produce World Health Organization (WHO) standard hand sanitizers in its own distillery plant using ethanol, glycerol, and hydrogen peroxide.

On March 23, Jamuna Group obtained a no objection certificate (NOC) from Directorate General of Drug Administration for the production of hand sanitizers. 

A team of expert chemists and researchers have been working while maintaining international standards in the process of the development and production of the sanitizers. 

Jamuna Group Chairman Md Nurul Islam said: "Our plan is to to sell the hand sanitizers at the lowest price—around Tk60 to Tk70 for 100ml and Tk140 for 250ml.

“In order to make them available throughout Bangladesh, they will be sold at WholeSale Club at Jamuna Future Park, all Jamuna-owned and distributor or dealer owned sales points of Jamuna Electronics & Automobiles Ltd initially ,and gradually to all pharmacies of the country. We have  our own nationwide sales team and through it, we can distribute sanitizers within the shortest possible time,” he added.

"To reduce the health risk of the physicians and nurses, the research and development team of Hurain HTF of Jamuna Industrial Park at Habiganj has been working to produce WHO standard personal protection equipment (PPE). We have also taken the initiative to import home testing kits to test the infection of coronavirus at home,” Jamuna group chairman said.

“In this global crisis, Jamuna Group has taken these steps with an intention of doing something for the betterment of the people. We believe that we should all extend our support to the government as much as possible to fight the spread of coronavirus by helping the people of our communities," Nurul remarked.
