River ports in some regions have been asked to hoist ‘warning signal No 1’ as a temporary west or northwesterly gusty or squally wind flow is likely to hit the country.

West or northwesterly squalls may blow through places in Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, and Sylhet with a speed of 45-60km per hour, the Met Office said Wednesday.

“The river ports there should hoist ‘riverine warning signal No 1’,” it said, reports UNB.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours, commencing at 10am, said another bulletin.
