Indian intelligence agencies have reportedly handed over to the Bangladesh authorities a second convicted killer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman less than a month after killer Abdul Majed was arrested in Dhaka and sent to the gallows, reported NDTV, a renowned Indian media outlet.

“According to reports, a second conspirator, Risaldar Mosleuddin, was handed over Monday evening to Bangladesh at an undisclosed land border crossing,” said the report run on Tuesday, adding that the fugitive had been arrested in West Bengal.

But no one in Bangladesh appears to be aware of or has confirmed such a development.

“We do not have such information,” Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen told Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.

Toufique Hasan, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata, said that there had not yet been any confirmation of the report.

“We are not aware,” said Assistant Inspector General (Media) of Bangladesh Police Sohel Rana in response to a question.

“Bangladesh Interpol got in touch with the Indian Interpol. We have not received such information,” he said.

Other Indian media outlets, including the Kolkata-based Anandabazar, have also reported on the arrest without quoting any official by name.

"As you are hearing we are also hearing. But there is no confirmation. Our NSI (National Security Intelligence) does not know anything. Our SB (Special Branch) does not know anything,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told this correspondent on Monday when his comment was sought on the Anandabazar report.

"We are verifying," he had added.

Abdul Majed, one of the convicted killers of Bangabandhu, was arrested in Dhaka on April 7 and executed at the Dhaka Central Jail at 12:01am on April 12.

He had been reportedly residing in Kolkata.
