New Expatriates’ Ministry secretary takes office

Expatriates’ Minister Imran Ahmad was the chief guest at the inauguration program

Dr Ahmed Munirus Saleheen has taken charge as the new secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.

He joined the office on Tuesday afternoon.

Dr Saleheen started his new role at the farewell program of the outgoing secretary Selim Reza. Saleheen was previously serving as the additional secretary of the ministry.  

He was promoted and appointed as the secretary to the Expatriates’ Ministry on April 30.

Expatriates’ Minister Imran Ahmad was the chief guest at the program.

He said the government is prioritizing the security issues of the workers staying abroad during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a press release sent by the ministry.

Bangladeshi envoys in host countries are continuously communicating with the workers in their respective jurisdictions, the minister added.Kamrul Hasan

The ministry is also continuing its discussions with ministers of host countries to ensure the safety of workers and keep the international labour market open for workers even after the coronavirus crisis ends.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed secretary, in his speech, emphasized ensuring accountability in the process with a strong mentality to provide top-notch service, the press release added.

Several other top officials of the ministry were present in the program.
