In the beginning of the pandemic, 6,959 Qawmi madrasas of Bangladesh received a financial assistance of Tk8.3125 crore
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said imams and muezzins of all mosques in Bangladesh and another 7,000 madrasas-orphanages will get financial aid before Eid-ul-Fitr.
The premier made the statement from Ganabhaban, at the inaugural program of cash aid disbursement of Tk1,250 crore to five million families, on Thursday morning.
The prime minister said: “Imam and muezzins used to get some support from mosque goers during Ramadan. However, this time mosques are open in a limited capacity, so we will provide financial support to all mosque employees before Eid.”
She also said: “In the beginning of the pandemic, I gave financial assistance of Tk8.3125 crore to 6,959 Qawmi madrasas of the country on the occasion of the holy Ramadan."
“Now I will give financial support to another 7,000 madrasa and orphanages, to ensure the safety of all the underprivileged children,” the premier added.
The premier said: “We had many plans to celebrate Mujib Year but could not do so due to the coronavirus pandemic. So, I am accumulating budget from all the sectors.”
“Our main goal is to bring smiles on the face of helpless people,” she added.
