Brac University Chess Club has won the first Online Inter-University Chess Team Battle, while Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Dhaka University came in second and third runners-up respectively.
The tournament was organized by Bangladesh Chess Arena (BCA) and sponsored by the Association of Chess Players Bangladesh(ACPB).
At least 191 students from 20 universities and medical colleges participated in the group stage of the tournament. Of them, ten teams -- 136 students from 10 institutes --were selected for the finals.
The best male player of the tournament was Anata Choudhury from Brac University Chess Club, while Abdullah Al Muhit, Mohammad Shakil, Sarowar Hossain Mishkat, and Muhammad Naqi, were the other top performers from the same club.
Brac University Chess Club Vice-President Sarowar Hossain Mishkat said: “I would like to especially thank BCA and ACPB for organizing such a wonderful event.
“Chess organizers from all of over Bangladesh should come forward and arrange more such events to promote chess and also to bring back the golden era of chess in Bangladesh.”
