Total number of Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh has climbed to 23,870
A High Court judge has tested positive for Covid-19, according to media reports.
The justice was suffering from fever and cough since May 8 and tests of his sample came back positive on May 11, say the reports.
Two days later, he was taken to the Mugda General Hospital as his condition worsened. Later, he was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka, according to the reports.
He is one of the 18 justices President Md Abdul Hamid appointed as temporary High Court judges on May 30, 2018.
Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh climbed to 23,870 after 1,602 infections, a single-day record, was reported in the 24 hours to Monday morning.
The death toll also hit a new high for a single day with 21 fatalities, taking the body count to 249 from the deadly disease caused by a new strain of the coronavirus.
