PM has expressed deep shock and sorrow after the death of the valiant freedom fighter
Faridpur district council chairman and Awami League district unit vice-president Md Lokman Hossain Mridha has died from the new coronavirus at a Dhaka hospital Friday morning. He was 77.
Lokman, also a veteran freedom fighter, breathed his last at 11am at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute & Hospital in Mohakhali while undergoing treatment there, said Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar.
Hossain was admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital on June 22 and had tested positive for coronavirus the next day, said his personal secretary Rezaul Karim Mithu.
Later on June 24, he was shifted to the hospital in the capital and was put under ventilation on Thursday as his condition deteriorated, he added.
Hossain left behind wife, four sons, a daughter and host of relatives to mourn his death.
LGRD Minister Md Tajul Islam and Faridpur 2 MP also the Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury among others expressed deep shock at the death of Md Lokman Hossain.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed deep shock and sorrow after the death of Lokman Hossain.
She prayed for the eternal salvation of his departed soul and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has also expressed his profound sorrow and shock at the death of Lokman Hossain.
