RAB seized 42 tons of polythene bags during the drive
A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has sent seven people to jail for manufacturing and marketing polythene bags in Dhaka.
The mobile court conducted a raid at Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka on Thursday.
42 tons of polythene bags were also seized during the drive led by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam.
Sarwar Alam said three factories have been manufacturing and stockpiling polythene bags illegally.
The mobile court handed down different jail terms to Rafsan Enterprise’s Manager Md Faruque, Bhai Bhai Enterprise’s Manager Sohel, worker Rabbi Hossain, Arif Hossain, and Bahar.
The court had instructed to file cases against the factory owners.
Besides, a manager of Madhumita Transport Agency was also jailed for marketing these banned bags, said the RAB official.
The magistrate said the detainees confessed to their crimes and then the mobile court jailed them for two to six months each.
